Ice and or algae growth resulting from water being placed on the sidewalks creates unsafe conditions and is a nuisance. In the event ice or algae forms on the sidewalk the property owner is responsible to remove it. If ice is found on the sidewalk, the City will send a contractor to the site a remove the ice. The property owner is billed for this service. The minimum charge is approximately $75.00 per time. Properties continuing to violate the City Code can be fined approximately $230.00 per day the violation exists. The City of Oshkosh has an annual program to install storm sewer laterals to properties. The storm sewer lateral is installed to the private property side of the sidewalk and a small inlet (drain) is placed approximately 1' onto the private property. The storm sewer lateral and inlet allows the sump pump discharge to be collected in the inlet and not cross the sidewalk. The cost for this is currently $750. Property owners may contact the Engineering division at 236-5065 to get additional information. Please do not direct sump pump discharges to floor drains, sinks or any other internal plumbing. These internal plumbing items are connected to the sanitary sewer system. The sanitary sewer system does not have the capacity to handle these additional volumes of water. Sump pump discharge is considered clear water and does not need treatment. Properties discharging clear water to the sanitary sewer system are also in violation of City Code. Properties can again be fined approximately $230.00 per day the violation exists. Please contact the City of Oshkosh Inspection Services if you have any questions about plumbing or sump pump discharge at 236-5050. Resp tfully, _ Jerry abisch, Plum ing Inspector
