No. 100-0470-6401-00000 General Fund – Contractual Services Ol-KOJH ON THE WATER MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: David C. Patek, Director of Public Works DaP/tur DATE: February 7, 2013 RE: Amendment to Engineering Services Agreement for Environmental Monitoring at Timmerman Landfill /AECOM ($40,000) BACKGROUND The Department of Public Works has utilized AECOM (former STS Consultants) for various environmental engineering needs at Timmerman Landfill located at 35th Avenue/Marvel Drive since 1993. In October of 2009, I reported on an engineering services agreement at this landfill for 2010 for the cost of $38,000. This agreement was amended in September of 2011 to continue the groundwater monitoring through 2012 for a cost of$32,000. ANALYSIS This agreement needs to be extended to cover 2013 expenses. FISCAL IMPACT This amendment will continue the groundwater monitoring at the Timmerman Landfill for an estimated cost of $40,000. The cost for these groundwater monitoring services will be allocated to the operating budget (Account 100-0470/Garbage Collection & Disposal). RECOMMENDATIONS Chapter 12 of the Municipal Code of the City of Oshkosh provides that professional services of a specialized nature, including engineering services, may be procured without the use of formal, sealed quotes. I have reviewed this amendment and in accordance with Section 12-16 of the Code, I am hereby recommending that the Common Council approve this amendment. Please contact me if you have any questions concerning this amendment. Approved, Mark A.
