RE: Cooperative Purchase of LED Traffic Signal Heads Pursuant to State of Wisconsin
Contract/ Pro-Electric, Inc. ($41,153.00)
The City is replacing the signal heads in its LED traffic signals in order to ensure that the lights continue
to meet appropriate traffic standards. Because these are relatively common items for municipalities to
purchase, the State of Wisconsin has negotiated a contract price for these items. As this contract price is
more favorable than what the City could obtain on its own, the City is purchasing its LED traffic signal
heads through this cooperative purchase.
The total purchase price is $41,153.00, and includes replacements for hundreds of signal head bulbs, as
well as some pedestrian signal heads. Funding for this purchase is included in the approved 2011 and
2012 Capital Improvement Programs.
Section 12-15 of the Municipal Code provides that, subject to approval of the City Manager, cooperative
purchases pursuant to a contract with any other local, state or federal governmental unit or agency may
be made without following a competitive bidding or quotation process. In accordance with Section 12-15
of the Municipal Code and because this cooperative purchase is in excess of $25,000, I am hereby
submitting a report of this purchase to the Common Council. If you have any questions on this purchase
