ON THE WATER
MEMORANDUM
DATE: December 3, 2012
TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council
FROM: Mark A. Rohloff, City Manager,I._
RE: Engineering Services Agreement for Marion Road Water Tower Study
CH2M HILL ($49,500)
The Marion Road water tower was erected in 1936 and has a capacity of 750,000 gallons. It is the oldest
water tower still in use in the water system. It has been well maintained, but it is reaching the end of its
useful life. A detailed engineering study needs to be performed to analyze options for replacement, taking
into consideration hydraulic analysis, water distribution performance, fire protection requirements, and the
need to develop a creative solution that will fit the aesthetics of this area during its redevelopment. The
design work required, based on the results of the study, is included for consideration in the 2014 Capital
Improvements Program (CIP) with construction proposed for consideration in the 2015 CIP.
CH2M HILL has provided an engineering proposal in the amount of $49,500 for the completion of this
study. CH2M HILL's knowledge of the water system developed during the Water Filtration Plant Asset
Management Study and Water Distribution System modeling project will assist them in providing effective
and efficient use of resources in the completion of this study.
Chapter 12 of the Municipal Code of the City of Oshkosh provides that professional services of a
specialized nature, including engineering services, may be procured without the use of formal, sealed
quotes. In accordance with Section 12-16 of the Code, I am hereby submitting this report regarding this
engineering services agreement. These services will be funded through the Water Utility.
Please advise me if you have any questions concerning this engineering services agreement.
