HomeMy WebLinkAbout16. 12-602 DECEMBER 11, 2012 12-602 RESOLUTION (CARRIED___6-0___ LOST _______ LAID OVER _______ WITHDRAWN _______) PURPOSE: AWARD BID TO DIRTY DUCTS CLEANING FOR ASBESTOS ABATEMENT AT SCATTERED SITES ($25,348.00) INITIATED BY: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has heretofore advertised for bids for asbestos abatement at scattered sites; and WHEREAS, upon the opening and tabulation of bids it appears that the following is the most advantageous bid: Dirty Ducts Cleaning 3025 Perry Street Madison, WI 53713 TOTAL BASE BID $16,383 TOTAL ALTERNATE BIDS 8,965 TOTAL BID $25,348 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that said bid is hereby accepted and the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement for the purpose of same, all according to plans, specifications, and bid on file. Money for this purpose is hereby appropriated from: Acct No. 249-0740-6401-00000 Community Development Special Fund- Contractual Services Acct No. 303-0740-6401-00000 CDBG Fund-Contractual Services Acct No. 323-0740-6401-06134 Property Fund-Great Neighborhoods Project O.fHKO./H ON THE WATER TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Allen Davis 9V Community Development Director DATE: December 5, 2012 RE: Award Bid to Dirty Ducts Cleaning for Asbestos Abatement at Various Sites BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS On November 30, 2012, bids were accepted and opened for asbestos abatement at scattered sites in the Middle Village (654 Frederick St., 118 West Parkway Ave., 235 Ida Ave.), 1008/1010 Oregon St., 1614 Spruce St., 1909 Jefferson St., and 3 properties in the South Shore Redevelopment Area. All properties are owned by the Redevelopment Authority. FISCAL IMPACT The City was awarded a WHEDA grant ($15,000 per property) to pay for demolition and asbestos abatement related costs of the properties in the Middle Village - Ida Avenue, Frederick Street and Parkway Avenue. Funds for 1008 Oregon Street will come from Great Neighborhoods funds, as it is the intent to use the property for a future green space. Funds for the South Shore properties will come from next years CDBG Central City allocation. RECOMMENDATION The Redevelopment Authority will consider awarding the asbestos abatement bid to Dirty Ducts Cleaning at a special meeting on December 13th. Council is being asked to award the bid in the amount of$25,348 for this purpose.
