NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the attached Fire Inspection Fee Schedule is hereby adopted and shall be in full force and effect for inspections conducted on and after January 1, 2013. TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Tim Franz, Fire Chief DATE: November 8, 2012. RE: Fee Schedule for Non-Routine Inspections BACKGROUND Pending the approval of the amendment of the Fire Prevention Ordinance Chapter 13, a fee schedule needs to be developed for the non-routine inspections outlined in the ordinance. These inspections are above beyond basic level service and are a direct benefit to a specific property. With an increase in demand for these types of inspections and services, and the subsequent cost, it would be appropriate that they are funded by these fees for service. ANALYSIS The proposed fees for non routine fire inspection services are based on cost of average staff time cost of the service and administration. In comparison to other Cities that we reviewed these fees are comparable to those charged by the communities of Appleton, Town of Menasha, Fond du Lac, Eau Claire and Green Bay. FISCAL IMPACT The fees we are proposing for fire special fire inspection, permits and services would provide an estimated $14,130.00 in revenue for the City. RECCOMENDATION I recommend that the City approve attached to allow fee schedule for non-routine fire inspection services. This will ensure our, ability to cover the cost of enforcing the Fire Prevention Codes for the continued safety of our residents and property owners. These fees will become effective January 1, 2103. Please direct any questions regarding this matter to the Fire Chief.
