NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that the attached fee schedule is hereby approved and adopted. City of Oshkosh Parks Department Ray Maurer 805 Witzel Ave.,PO Box 1136 Y Oshkosh,WI 54903-1130 Director OfF- O n H (920)236-5080 (920)232-5316 FAX ON THE WATER TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Ray Maurer, Parks Director DATE: October 18, 2012 RE: Riverside Cemetery Fee Schedule BACKGROUND Riverside Cemetery fee structure changes are scheduled for consideration by the Common Council at • the October 23,2012 meeting. Current cemetery fees have remained unchanged since 01/01/2001. If approved by the Common Council, these fees will be effective beginning January 1, 2013. ANALYSIS Fee comparisons have been made with other regional cemeteries and recommendations have been made to adjust current rates to better reflect local market and remain competitive with other regional cemeteries. These fees are necessary to cover the specific costs of burials and perpetual care operations at the Cemetery. Since the Cemetery Fund is partially funded through the tax levy, the goal is to allocate the direct/indirect charges attributable to specific spaces to the identified beneficiaries. FISCAL IMPACT Comprehensive fee analysis accompanies this document with additional average annual revenue calculated to be approximately $15,300 annually beginning in 2013. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval of the proposed cemetery fees, effective January 1, 2013.
