I can help with that important issue. In the last 8 years I know of at least 6 cyclists who have been hit and seriously injured by motorists in Oshkosh, including myself. One cyclist was killed by a motorist in Oshkosh. Establishing this advisory subcommittee will go a long way in preventing more injuries and deaths. I know from experience how dangerous it is to ride in Oshkosh. I've been biking through this city for 28 years. I understand what makes it dangerous compared to our surrounding communities and I also have some simple ideas that would quickly and inexpensively make Oshkosh a safer place to ride, walk and run in. As founder and president of the Oshkosh Cycling Club I have been asked to seek a position on the Bicycle Advisory Subcommittee,which has yet to be formed. The Oshkosh cycling and running community would like to have representation on this advisory subcommittee by someone who actually rides a bike in this city on a daily basis.
