RE: 2012 Riverwalk Corridor Lighting Poles&Bollards
BACKGROUND
This bid addresses lighting poles and bollards needs as part of the 2012 Riverwalk Corridor
improvement project for the City Center and William Steiger Park riverwalks. Bid specifications
required matching the current lighting fixtures to ensure uniformity throughout the Riverwalk
Corridor. The Electric Division will install the fixtures.
ANALYSIS
Working in conjunction with the Electrical Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared proposals
seeking vendors for 14 lighting poles fixtures and 54 pathway bollard lighting fixtures. The bids
were advertised in the local paper and posted online on NovusVendor. Bids were received on
May 3, 2012. The bid tab is attached. Working with the Electrical Division, Purchasing
reviewed the bids and concluded the low bid from Viking Electric Supply met the bid
specifications. The lighting fixtures will have a five year standard warranty and a 10 year
warranty on the finish. The fixtures are expected to arrive in 8-10 weeks after purchase.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total fiscal impact of these fixtures is $103,284. Funds were budgeted in the 2011 and 2012
CIP for Riverwalk improvement projects. Funding for these items will be charged to TIF #17-
City Center (account # 530-1040-7216-07178) and TIF #20 South Shore Redevelopment Area /
William Steiger Park (534-1040-7216-07280).
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award the 2012 Riverwalk lighting poles &
bollards bid to Viking Electric Supply for$103,284.
