RE: Bid Award-3/4 Ton Pickup Truck for Forestry Division
BACKGROUND
The Common Council allocated $42,000 in the 2012 CIP for a new 3/4 ton pickup truck for the
Forestry Division. The current unit is a 1998 GMC with 47,000 miles. The bed box on the
current unit needs to be replaced and the replacement cost exceeds the value of the unit. The
CNG fuel tank space requirements in the bed of this unit prohibit the CNG option to be
considered as this unit must also carry a tank sprayer for Forestry operations.
ANALYSIS
Working in conjunction with the Street Division, Purchasing reviewed and prepared proposals
seeking vendors for this unit. Bid requests were sent to vendors who have received invitations to
bids in previous years. In addition the bids were advertised in the local paper and posted online
on NovusVendor. Bids were received on May 4, 2012. The bid tab is attached. The Street
Division and Purchasing reviewed the sole bid received from L&S Truck Center and concluded it
met the minimum bid specifications.
FISCAL IMPACT
With trade-in this unit will have a fiscal impact of$33,346. This item was budgeted in the 2012
CIP major equipment replacement at $42,000. Funding for this item would be charged to CIP
A/N#: 323-0620-7210-06213.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award this bid to L&S Truck Center for$33,346.
Respectfully Submitted, Approved:
