HomeMy WebLinkAbout02. Approval of Temporaty Truck Route Of-IKOJH ON THE WATER MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Steven M. Gohde, Assistant Director of Public Works DATE: April 5, 2012 RE: Approval of Temporary Truck Route during Reconstruction of the W. 15th Avenue and Oregon Street Intersection for Contract 12-04 Concrete Paving & Utilities (South) BACKGROUND During the reconstruction of the intersection of W. 15th Avenue at Oregon Street for the south side concrete paving and utilities contract, Oregon Street will be closed for approximately four weeks. Oshkosh Corporation uses this designated truck route to move vehicles between its facilities. Oshkosh Corporation has requested approval of a temporary truck route on West 6th Avenue from S. Main Street to Oregon Street in order to facilitate transfer of their vehicles from their West 20th Avenue facility to the old Jeld Wen facility on West 6th Avenue. ANALYSIS The proposed alternate route during the closure of Oregon Street at W. 15th Avenue will use designated truck routes except for the two blocks of W. 6th Avenue from S. Main Street to Oregon Street. This stretch of W. 6th Avenue has only three dwelling units; one is owner-occupied. Each of these properties has been sent a notice about the proposed temporary truck route. RECOMMENDATIONS Approval of the temporary truck route on West 6th Avenue from S. Main Street to Oregon Street during the closure of Oregon Street at W. 15th Avenue for Contract 12-04 is recommended. Respectfully Submitted, Approved: At/AAA, 1194544-- Steven M. Gohde, P.E Mark A.
