Street Area Storm Water Detention Basin
BACKGROUND
On November 9, 2010, the Common Council approved a relocation order relating to the purchase of
property located in the SW quadrant of the 9th Avenue-Washburn Street intersection. This area is an
undeveloped property that is currently owned by three different property owners. The City has
officially mapped these properties for construction of a storm water detention basin.

Our right-of-way consultant has had discussions with all of the property owners. The Common
Council had previously approved land acquisition from Lee Engelman. Gail Demler has agreed to
sell 3.775 acres located at 2115 West 9th Avenue for $600,200 and the Angela Demler Life
Estate/Gail Demler have agreed to sell 3.569 acres located at 2107 West 9th Avenue for $567,450.
The following information pertains to these property acquisitions:
Initial Offer Owner Request Agreed Upon Price
2107 W. 9th Avenue $405,000 $932,800 $567,450
2115 W. 9th Avenue $430,000 $986,700 $600,200
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for these acquisitions is included in the "Storm Sewer Section" of the Capital Improvement
Program.
RECOMMENDATION
I recommend approval of the land purchases.
