HomeMy WebLinkAboutBoard of Health Minutes 10-26-11 OSHKOSH BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES October 26, 2011 Members Present: Jamie Bonell, Steve Herman, Stan Kline, Susan Panek, and Mardell Sowers Members Absent: Christine Kniep Staff Present: Mark Ziemer, Administrative Supervisor; Denise Krueger, Interim Health Officer; and Mary Capen, Recording Secretary The Oshkosh Board of Health Meeting was called to order at 7:34 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, in Room 404 of City Hall by Chairperson Stan Kline. Motion Chairperson Kline called for approval of the August 31, 2011 Meeting Minutes. : SecondVote Herman; : Bonell; : Unanimous. The Baker Tilly Feasibility Assessment Project Summary was presented to the Winnebago County Board and accepted unanimously. The Summary was presented to th the Oshkosh Common Council October 25 and will be presented to Neenah next week. James Godlewski, City Attorney for Neenah, has been assigned the task of drafting the intergovernmental agreement and should have a draft completed this week. Winnebago County Executive, Mark Harris, fielded questions on the composition of the Winnebago County Board and how City residents are/will be represented. By State Statute there will need to be 9 members and Mr. Harris is looking at recommending allocating 4 to Oshkosh, 3 to the current County area and 2 to Neenah. Currently there are two on the County Board from Neenah and approximately 40% of the current County Board represents Oshkosh jurisdictions. City Manager, Mark Rohloff stated now is the time to forward concerns regarding the consolidation so that he can take them into consideration with regards to the intergovernmental agreement. Concerns mentioned:  Inspections of Food Vendors on the week-end  Modifications of local ordinances  Testing of swimming pools, Oshkosh currently tests monthly  Staffing – everyone should have fairness and opportunity to apply for supervisory positions Health Officer’s Update:  Influenza is now in the state of Wisconsin  STD’s increased after high school homecomings  Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System (WEDSS) – report on Oshkosh jurisdiction Disease Incident counts year-to-date  Brown County and the southeast portion of the state have been seeing cases of pertussis, it has now moved into our area OSHKOSH BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES October 26, 2011 Page 2  Education done regarding LTBI and TB and the concerns with regards to exposure of children  An increase in TB is expected over the next 15 years  National Food day was yesterday, tour of Oshkosh West food service, taste testing at Tippler Middle School, Beckets offered a healthy sustainable meal to raise money for ReThink!
