RE: Urban Wildlife Abatement and Control Grant Resolution
BACKGROUND
The City of Oshkosh Parks Department plans to apply for a Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources (WDNR) grant to implement actions in compliance with the WDNR and consistent with the
City of Oshkosh Wildlife Management Plan approved by the Common Council in March, 2011.
Specifically, if the grant application is successful, costs associated with an aerial whitetail deer survey
and continued Canada geese management efforts will be partially funded.
ANALYSIS
As part of the DNR grant application process, a Common Council Resolution is necessary for inclusion
in the application package. All management activities will be contingent on permitting by WDNR
and/or U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services prior to any action.
FISCAL IMPACT
If the grant application is successful, the fiscal impact in 2012 to the City is expected to be approximately
$2,500 which is 50% of the expected total costs.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends adoption of the resolution.
Respectfully Submitted, Approved:
