Gohde, Assistant Director of Public Works DATE: November 16, 2011 RE: Change Order#1 for Public Works Contract No. 11-05; with Carl Bowers & Sons Construction Co. for Concrete Paving and Utilities—South Side Paving Project($199,786.89) BACKGROUND Change Order #1 for Contract 11-05 is scheduled for consideration by the Common Council at the November 22, 2011. The contract was originally awarded to Carl Bowers & Sons Construction Co. Inc. in April of 2011. ANALYSIS Following is a summary of the significant changes to each section of the CIP. -Concrete Paving—Costs to re-establish survey monuments and install traffic signal interconnect vaults. -Storm Sewer—Additional costs to haul contaminated materials to landfill and adjust to field conditions. -Sanitary Sewer — Removal of bedrock to install sanitary sewer. Additional costs to match field conditions. -Water Main — Additional costs to lower 16" water main in conflict with storm sewer. Credit for water main installation depth being shallower than proposed.
