HomeMy WebLinkAboutweekly newsletter Date: October 21, 2011 To: Mayor & City Council From: Mark A. Rohloff, City Manager WEEKLY NEWSLETTER Subject: UPDATE ON ROUNDABOUTS 1.: Please find enclosed a memorandum from Police Chief Scott Greuel, summarizing the activities in all of the roundabouts in the city. Police Chief Greuel has documented all accidents at the roundabouts, and has included the vehicle stops for violations occuring at the roundabouts. After reviewing this memorandum, it is obvious that more education is needed for the traveling public. The Police Department will continue to focus on enforcement efforts at the roundabouts, and will continue public education. It is our hope that as drivers become more comfortable driving the roundabouts and develop new driving habits, we will see a reduction in accidents. Thankfully, the accidents that have occurred have been relatively minor, with limited injuries. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please feel free to contact Chief Greuel. NEIGHBORWORKS OSHKOSH PROGRESS REPORT 2.: Please find enclosed a letter from NeighborWorks America to NeighborWorks Oshkosh, informing us that our application for expansion has been selected for the funding of $100,000 for the 2011 fiscal year. This letter, bearing the good news, is followed up with the enclosed Progress Report from our Homeownership Center Manager. This detailed report includes, among other things, a citizen survey, a work plan, and the minutes of the Steering Committee's meetings over several months. If you have any questions after reviewing this information, please feel free to contact Principal Planner Robin Leslie. AFTER ACTION REVIEW OF PUB CRAWL 3.: Another document I'm enclosing from Police Chief Greuel is the After Action Review Report concerning the Pub Crawl. This report goes into great detail in explaining pre-event activities/planning, including identifying objectives, Police response, and tavern improvements. The report also includes an event recap and a post event synopsis. If you have any questions concerning this report, please feel free to contact Chief Greuel. DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS & UPDATES 4.: Other items I'm enclosing with today's Newsletter include the Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan from our consultant on the project. Please contact Parks Director Ray Maurer if you have any questions after reviewing this report. Insofar as minutes are th concerned, I'm enclosing the minutes of the October 4 Plan Commission meeting, and the minutes of th the June 29 Board of Health meeting. The last item I'm enclosing is an invitation from the Veterans' th Service Office to the Mayor and all Council Members, inviting you to the 70 Anniversary, Pearl Harbor Commemoration, on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at the EAA Eagle Hanger here in Oshkosh.
