Rohloff, City Manager DATE: September 15, 2011 RE: WAIVE BIDS FOR PURCHASE OF POLICE VEHICLE In the 2011 operating budget the Common Council approved allocation of $212,000 for the purchase of eight patrol vehicles for the Police Department. This $212,000 included the costs for the vehicles in addition to equipment, graphics and labor necessary to equip and prepare each vehicle. This past March seven 2011 Ford Crown Victorias were ordered under state contract. The Police Department is seeking to purchase the final vehicle of this package with a 2013 Ford Taurus Interceptor model. Ford discontinued the Crown Victoria in 2012 and replaced it with the Interceptor for 2013 model year. Ewald's Auto Group holds the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration contract for police vehicles. The state contract price for the 2013 Ford Taurus Interceptor noted above is $25,143. Remaining funds in the capital outlay of the 2011 Police Department operating budget (AN # 100- 0211- 7210 -0000) will fund this purchase. Section 12 -10 (D) (3) of the Municipal Code provides that material purchases, when pursuant to a contract with any other local, state or federal governmental unit or agency, may be approved by the City Manager without the use of formal, sealed bids. In accordance with 12 -10 (E) of the Code, I am hereby submitting this report regarding this purchase. Please advise me if you have any questions concerning this purchase.
