RE: 3 /4 Ton 4WD Regular Cab Pickup Truck
BACKGROUND
The Common Council approved and allocated $45,000 in the 2011 CIP to purchase a 3 /4 ton
pickup truck for the Wastewater Treatment Facility. The current truck is a 1999 Chevrolet K2500
mounted with a hydraulic lift box to haul waste material at the plant. Unfortunately the hydraulic
lift box on the current truck is failing due to heavy use and when inoperable, requires manual
loading /unloading of material. Costs to repair the current truck's lift box system exceed its value.
The new truck will come with a hydraulic lift gate for easier operation, a full three year, 36,000
mile warranty and a snow plow to address snow removal needs for the Wastewater Division.
ANALYSIS
Working in conjunction with the Central Garage Supervisor, Purchasing reviewed and prepared
proposals seeking vendors for this unit. Bids were advertised in the local paper and posted online
on NovusVendor. Bids were received September 6, 2011. The bid tabulation is attached. From
reviewing the bids Purchasing concluded that the low bid from Ewald Chevrolet Buick met the
minimum bid specifications.
FISCAL IMPACT
With trade -in the net fiscal impact of this unit is $28,427. This item was budgeted in the 2011
CIP major equipment replacement at $45,000. Funding for this item would be charged to CIP
account: 551 -1910 -1788- 00000.
RECOMMENDATION
Purchasing recommends the Common Council award the bid to Ewald Chevrolet Buick for
$28,427.
Respectfully Submitted, Approved:
