PURPOSE: AWARD BID FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONTRACT NO. 11 -26 TO
MICHELS CORPORATION FOR CONCRETE & ASPHALT CRUSHING
($154,630.00)
INITIATED BY: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
WHEREAS, the City of Oshkosh has heretofore advertised for bids for Concrete and
Asphalt Crushing; and
WHEREAS, upon the opening and tabulation of bids, it appears that the following is
the most advantageous bid:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Oshkosh that the said bid is hereby accepted and the proper City officials are hereby
authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement for the purpose of same, all
according to plans, specifications, and bid on file. Money for this purpose is hereby
appropriated from:

RE: Award Bid for Public Works Contract No. 11 -26 to Michels Corporation for Concrete and
Asphalt Crushing ($154,630.00)
BACKGROUND
The purpose of this project is to crush stock piled concrete and asphalt pavement into suitable aggregate
to reuse on City construction projects. The material is generated from building demolition projects and
street repairs. Two stock piles exist, one in the Southwest Industrial Park and the other in the Northwest
Industrial Park. The pile in the Southwest Industrial Park will be used to construct the roadways for the
industrial park expansion. The pile in the Northwest Park will be used for various construction projects.
ANALYSIS
Engineering staff reviewed three bids. The low bid was received from Michels Corporation of Brownsville,
WI. The total bid is $154,630.00.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for the project is to be split between Street Construction (TIF) and the Street Construction (Non -
TIF) sections of the Capital Improvement Program. Adequate funding is available in the Streets section
due to other projects coming in under budget. Following is a summary of the available funds and the
construction costs including engineering fees.
