CITIZEN’S STATEMENTS
(Items on Agenda)
There were no citizen’s statements.
BUSINESS
1)Review monthly car accident reports from Police Department
Mr. Cummings inquired if the landfill was in the City or County?
Mr. Dallman stated he was not sure, but he would research it and get back to the Committee.
2) Update on quarry owner cooperation with deer management
Mr. Dallman stated that Mr. Maurer has been in communication with the Quarry management. Their legal council
continues to work with the City Attorney and both parties are trying to come up with options on deer management in
that area.
3)Update on the Urban Wildlife Management Plan and actions
Mr. Dallman stated that the Management Plan went to the City Council for approval and it was well reviewed and
approved. Good comments were made by the City Council on the plan. He noted that the plan is something that the
Committee can continue to work on.
Mr. Dallman stated that Chris Jacques of the WI DNR could come to the next scheduled meeting wherein trapping and
other deer management options could discussed. Twenty minutes or so could also be utilized for a question/answer
period.
Mr. Voss suggested that maybe Mr. Jacques could bring a clover trap to allow the Committee members a chance to see
what it looks like and maybe be given a demonstration.

Ms. Crubaugh inquired if the DNR has tried any contraception. She would like updated information on the pros and cons
in that regard.
4)Discussion on public education opportunities on wildlife management
Mr. Dallman stated that there is a new Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Viegut, who could be approached relative to a
partnership with life scientists or an upper elementary or middle school partnership. He stated he could bring this to Dr.
Viegut for something for this group to create a better awareness of management from the City to see if there is any
interest with the students and go from there.
Ms. Crubaugh stated the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation has impact grants that would benefit the City and noted
that the Foundation is big on collaborations.
Mr. Beeth stated it would be good to have something on the website showing documents and dates for aerial surveys
and their results. Also on the website it would be helpful to have a reference of who to contact when a citizen finds a
wild animal in the City limits. What can we do if you recognize a problem? Can I trap it myself? Opportunity for people
to report instances, sightings or issues to send to the Committee. Where do I find resources or have issues?
Discussion ensued as to who should be called if a citizen sees an injured deer or a wild animal within City limits. It was
suggested that these are issues/answers that could be incorporated in a flyer and sent out with the water bills.
5)Topics for next meeting
Mr. Dallman stated that the topics could include the monthly car/deer accident report, Mr. Jacques of the WI DNR and
possibly Brian Woodbury of the WI DRN for a question/answer period and discussion on trapping and other deer
management options.
Mr. Maurer stated another topic that could be discussed is the meeting dates and possibly meeting every other month
instead of monthly meetings.
