Brief history review: Mr. Jungwirth improperly rebuilt and lined a chimney at this address without the required permits. The -owner came into the office to request an inspection of the work that had been done, since he was experiencing problems with his fireplace drafting properly after this work was done, and had numerous concerns over the work that was done. The owner obtained the required permit, in order to have us make an inspection, and provided us with a copy of Mr. Jungwirth's proposal for this work, along with photos of the chimney work. Upon inspection of this installation numerous violations were noted. The work that was done was not in compliance with code requirements and did create some potential life safety problems. This is why it is critical that we get these types of permits, and know what type of work is being done. Perhaps issuing citations might encourage Mr. Jungwirth to obtain permits for the work he is doing, and help future clients of his avoid having to deal with obtaining an after the fact permit, and dealing with the problems he has created for them. As noted in Black Cat Chimneys yellow page add they have been in the business for over 30 years, and this is not the first time this office has had difficulty gaining compliance with this company.
