The following municipal code has been violated. Mun 7 -8 Commencing work prior to the grant of a permit is prohibited. Brief history review: 8/13/10 A complaint was received regarding construction at 619 W 11 Ave without the required building permit. An inspection was conducted and it was noted that a 2nd story deck and roof structure had been constructed over an existing rear deck without a building permit. A correction notice was sent to the owner. 9/7/10 The owner submitted pictures of the structure in question to our office. I reviewed the pictures and noted that the structure did not comply with minimum building code requirements. I talked to the owner and informed him that the footings were undersized, connection details were not compliant, the posts were not compliant and the roof was shingled which is a violation since the roof is less than a 4/12 slope. 9/9/10 I sent a second correction notice to the owner detailing that the structure needed to be razed. I gave the owner the option of reconstructing it to meet minimum code requirements but I informed him that he needed to submit detailed plans including structural analysis if conventional framing methods were not utilized. The structure was to be razed by 10/9/10. 11 /1 /10 I have not heard anything from the owner and the structure has not been razed. Attachments: Orders X , Photos X , Other . Item # 2 Code NOTE Compliance No Compliance Date 10/09/2010 Description The pictures that were submitted on 9/7/10 revealed that the structure that was built does not comply with minimum code 09/09/2010 requriements. The structure as built will need to be razed. If you would like to reconstruct the structure to meet minimum building code requirements you will need to submit detailed plans including structural analysis. As discussed at the counter Last the footings are currently undersized, the posts are not compliant, the roof is shingled with less than a 4/12 pitch, and there are Updated no connection details provided for the design. Failure to comply will result in court action. Summary It is the responsibility of every property owner to confirm compliance with these orders before the compliance date as specified. Please contact this office and /or obtain the requried building permit on or before the scheduled due date to avoid further action by the City.
