HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-190APRIL 26, 2010 11 -190 RESOLUTION (CARRIED 6 -0 LOST LAID OVER WITHDRAWN ) PURPOSE: APPROVAL OF SPECIAL EVENT / OSHKOSH SAWDUST DAYS / UTILIZE CITY STREETS FOR THEIR SAWDUST DAYS 5K WALK - RUN / JULY 3, 2011 INITIATED BY: CITY ADMINISTRATION NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oshkosh that approval is granted to Oshkosh Sawdust Days (Carlos Munoz) to utilize Menominee Park and city streets: Parkway Avenue, Hazel Street, Menominee Drive and Murdock Street on Sunday, July 3, 2011, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for their Sawdust Days 5K Walk -Run in conjunction with festival, in accordance with the municipal code and the attached application, with the following exceptions /conditions: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that as a condition of approval, the Event Organizer shall pay the City's actual costs for extraordinary services. Box 436 Oshkosh, WI 54903 -0436 Phone: 920 -235 -5584 www.sawdustdays.com The Oshkosh Sawdust Days Committee would like to submit a request to hold a 5K Walk -Run in conjunction with the festival. Carlos Munoz, one of our Board Members will be in charge of this event. It would be held on Sunday, July 3, 2011, registration from 7:00 am to 8:00 am. The race will begin at 8:00 am and finish in approximately 2 hours, which would be 10:00 am Registration will be held in the Mexican tent at Parkway and Pratt Trail. The race course will run from Parkway and Hazel north to Menominee Drive following Menominee Drive, left on Murdock to Hazel, south on Hazel ending at Haze and Parkway. A map is included. Don Kujawa has talked to Matt Harris from the Police Department, it is Matt's opinion this would be a low impact event. The insurance will be provided under the Oshkosh Sawdust Days policy. Each year the committee strives to bring in new ideas to keep Sawdust Days interesting and attractive to a wide range of people.
