I spoke with Cary from American Htg regarding the possibilty of insufficient makeup - combustion air for the water heater. Cary explained that the house was sitting sealed up with no one opening any doors or windows for an extended period of time. In addition insulation was stuffed into the makeup air intake preventing and air to enter when needed by the water heater. The insulation has been removed and a damper was installed with proper ducting to provide make -up air to the dwelling.
