Dear Mr. Reimer:
In reply to yours of November 17th, we have the following:
Ind.64.05 We are submitting another copy of our thermal calcu-
lations. Page 1 shows the Sales Office & Toilet Rooms with the
exterior temperature at -15 and the interior at +67 Page 2
shows the Service Department with exterior at -15 and interior
at +60 We trust this will answer this paragraph.
Ind.51.16 We are assuming that this in reference to the two
steps at the aligning pit. We did fail to show that a chain will
extend from one side to the other when equipment is not in use.
This is shown on the shop drawings by the manufacturer of the align-
ing equipment. The Owner will provide this protection.
Ind.52.28 Sheet #3 of our plans show the toilet room ceiling finish
to be 5/8" sheet rock finished with three coat enamel system. A copy
of this specification is attached.
Butler Calculations of 4012 WBF -II building are herewith submitted.
We felt that since DILHR at Madison had approved this building, further
submittal of calculations was not required. We should like to have them
returned after thay have served their purpose.
We hope this will provide all that is required to receive the permit
for complete construction.

Dear Sir:
Building plans have been reviewed by this office for
compliance with important code requirements. The drawings
are stamped "Construction may proceed ". All items that are
required to be changed by this letter must be corrected
before commencing that part of the work. This approval is
not a Building Permit. Necessary city permits must be
secured before commencing work.
You are hereby advised that the owner, as defined in
Charter 101.01 (1) of the Wisconsin State Statutes, is
responsible for all code requirements not specifically cited
herein. Code requirements are set forth in Chapters 50
thru 64 of the rules of the Department of Industry, Labor

complete compliance with City and State codes.
The architect, professional engineer, builder or owner
shall keep at the building, as evidence of approval, one
set of plans bearing the stamp of approval.
Ind. 64.02 This approval does not include heating and
ventilating. Such plans are required to be submitted and
approved prior to installation of such equipment.
Ind. 64.05 Inside design temperature for retail area
must be at least 65 F. Resubmit calculations taking that
temperature into consideration and show that the total
building envelope shall not have a loss greater than 13 3TU
per hour per square foot.
Wm. J. Petri Page -2- November 17, 1977
Ind. 51.16 Stairs and platforms shall be provided
with railings designed in accordance to Section Ind. 51.16.

Dear Sir:
On reviewing the data included with your letter of
November 21, 1977, I had, a few questions. I have tried
calling you at 457- 2511, but no one answered the phone at
those times. My questions were on the following items:
1. It appears that two overhead doors have been left
out of your calculations on heat loss. Since
adding the two doors to the calculations would
exceed the 13 btu per square foot limit, I would
like you to recheck the figures once more.
2. The plans do not show any end wall braces. Are
7/16" brace rods required in the design manual=
3. I cannot find the size of girts on the plan. Is
a 9.5 X 2.750 X .102 girt specified?
Sincerely,
