Reimer Building Inspector Oshkosh City Hall Oshkosh, Wisconsin 54902 • • January 11, 1967 Dear Sir: This will acknowledge your letter of December 30. M most sincere apologies for the apparent oversight in not securing the proper and appropriate building permit for the work done on Miss Emily Petersen's home. While I was not directly involved with the sale or construction of this awning, we are indeed embarrassed by the situation. Please be assured that we shall take prompt action to correct the oversight. I am surprised further that the roof violates the city zoning requirements as to minimum rear yard requirements. I sincerely hope that the Board of Appeals will fully consider the needs of Miss Petersen. We graciously plead with the Board on behalf of Miss Petersen to act favorably upon her request to allow the awning in place and for her benefit. Any assistance you can give in transmitting this message to the Board will be sincerely appreciated. I can positively assure you that we will do no work of this type in the future without first obtaining the proper building permit from the Inspector's Office. We have complete certified engineering data demonstrating that the canopy that was installed has an allowable load in excess of 45 pounds per square foot plus an additional safety factor of two. Computed out this would give a load bearing capacity of an excess of 130 pounds per square foot. This is considerably an excess of our requirements in the City of Appleton or for the State of Wisconsin. Mr, Edward L. Reimer Page Two January 11, 1967 If any more specific information is desired or required, please advise and we will be happy to spell out all of the details of the structural strength and necessary computations supporting them.
