Washington Avenue P.O. Box 7969 Madison, Wisconsin 53707 Mr. Westing E. Pence Pence /Schwartz Associates _ 386 North York Road Elmhurst, IL 60126 Dear Mr. Pence: Auto Repair Building Owner: Midas Realty Corporation Tenant: Walt Ringer - -Midas Muffler Shop 360 South Koeller Oshkosh, Winnebago County Plan Number: 83- 03- 0037 -B Inspection Fees Previously Paid Supervising Architect: Westing E. Pence Revised building plans have been reviewed by the Department of Industry, Labor and Human Relations for compliance with the important code requirements. The plans are stamped "Conditionally Approved," and construction may proceed sub - ject to local regulations, but all items that are required to be changed by this letter must be corrected before commencing that part of the work. You are hereby advised that the owner as defined in Chapter 101.01 (2) (i) of the Wisconsin State Statutes is responsible for all code requirements not specifically cited herein. Code requirements are set forth in Chapters 50 through 64 of the Rules of the Department. The building will be inspected during and after construction by a deputy of this department to insure complete compliance with Wisconsin Codes. The owner may notify the state building inspector listed below if a final inspection is desired before taking possession of the building. Ind 50.15 Evidence of approval. The architect, professional engineer, designer, builder or owner shall keep at the building, one set of plans bearing the stamp of approval. NOTE: This revision covers the deletion of the "racking system," a decrease in size of the mezzanine area above the office, and the addition of the required stairway from the mezzanine. Mr. Westing E. Pence December 23, 1983 Page 2 I will also write to indicate receipt of additional structural calculations requested by Mr. Covill's report and orders, which indicate a change in framing from the originally approved plans to a double "C" channel, 10 inches deep and having a metal thickness of 16- gauge. The calculations indicate these joists are to be provided at 12 inches on center. In the future, such a change as this should be reflected on the revised plan. Your revised plan, which I con- ditionally approved, still indicates the "10 JP14" joists being used for the mezzanine framing. This approval now reflects the double "C" joists which should have been reflected on the plans. You are also reminded that these double "C" joists are not approved as a substitute for the wood freeing required for the 2 -hour ceiling assembly of the mechanical equipment room. You are also reminded that as typically shown on Sheet A -1 "partial mezzanine framing plan" a double joist is required to be provided at the edge of the stairway opening. This will require two of the double "C" joists. I will also use this letter to indicate that the plans for the storage racking system, previously submitted, have been stamped "Not Approved," and are being returned. Sincerely, Janes B.
