FINK December 28, 1972 Mr. Ed Reimer Building Inspector City Hall -215 Church Street Oshkosh, Wisconsin 54901 Re: Request for variance by Autotronic Systems, Inc., for sign on premises known as 123 Sawyer Avenue, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Dear Mr. Reimer: At the hearing scheduled for December 20, 1972, Autotronic Systems, Inc., withdrew its request for variance in view of the objections that were made by certain neighbors. The field representative of the petitioner has met with objectors concern- ing this matter in an effort to find out if there was an area where a possible agreement could be reached. As a result of these conferences, Autotronic Systems, Inc., requests that a hearing be rescheduled for the purpose of considering a variance to the Zoning Ordinance. At the time the hearing was cancelled the field representative of our client thought it would have been possible to place the sign on the canopied roof. However, upon checking with the home office, it a•pears that it is not feasible to do this without a substantial alteration to t e s ructure, As you know, t e con- struction plans in yource set forth the location of where Autotronic planned to install the sign. On several occasions, representatives of the firm were in your office to be sure that the plan met with your approval. Before the zoning problem was discovered, cables had already been laid underground to the proposed site for the sign. In addition, of course, the canopy had been constructed without consideration for attach- ing a sign. Basically, our client proposes to install a six foot by six foot sign as a free standing column within the setback requirements for Sawyer Street and Faust Avenue. As an alternate, Autotronic would be willing to have the sign placed along its southerly boundary within the setback requirement for Sawyer Street. Mr. Ed Reimer -2- December 26, 1972 Consequently, the only variance request for the sign is that it be free standing instead of attached to the building. In addition we request that a variance be granted for a light fixture which has already been installed as indicated by the build- ing plan. We request that this matter be set down for hearing as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Very truly yours, NOLAN ENGLER YAKES & CURTIS By 4111 "4.--- ai R. ak GRY:ml
