The submittal described above has been reviewed for conformance with applicable Wisconsin Administrative Codes
and Wisconsin Statutes. The submittal has been CONDITIONALLY APPROVED. The owner, as defined in
chapter 101.01(10), Wisconsin Statutes, is responsible for compliance with all code requirements. Only those object
types listed above have been approved; other submittals such as plumbing may be required.
The following conditions shall be met during construction or installation and prior to occupancy or use:
Key Items
• The supervising professional is responsible to contact the appropriate inspector when the installation is in the
rough -in -stage and also for a final inspection. See name and number of plumbing/pool consultant or city
inspector c.c'd at the end of this letter.
• This approval letter will be valid only when attached to plan sets bearing the signature and seal of the designing
Wisconsin registered architect or engineer and corresponds with the approved copy on file with the department.
• The whirlpool equalizers options are approved, the inspector shall be informed of the exact option that will be
utilized.
• The equalizer covers shall be installed per ASME /ANSI A112.19.8 -2007 section 2.1.4 of standard so as to not
protrude greater than 2" from the pool wall.
• This approval includes the modification of the sump and a reconstruction or remodeling a the whirlpool shell to
comply with the ASME /ANSI A112.19.8 standard and the Wisconsin Administrative Code. The supervising
professional is responsible to contact the appropriate inspector when the installation is in the rough -in- stage.

• The main drain grate(s) for this project may be installed in the existing frames provided they are structurally
sound. This approval permits the frame replacement if the frame is found to be compromised during grate
install. The installation instructions provided by the manufacture shall be followed.
• Pools require a minimum of one inspection. It is the option of the inspector to require additional inspections.
Inspections shall include verification that the sump(s) is built in accordance with section 2.3.4 of the
ASME /ANSI standard A112.19.8 -2007.

• When calling for the pool inspection, be sure a copy of the approval letter and signed and sealed plan set is on
the jobsite and the inspector informed where to locate it. Failure to have the plan at the jobsite will result in a re-
inspection assessment to cover the cost of the inspector returning to the job site.
• The ASME /ANSI A112.19.8 -2007 standard requires pool/spa drain covers be stamped as VGBA certified. The
owner(s) of the pool shall be given a copy of this information which includes the life expectancy of the cover.
All permits required by the state or the local municipality shall be obtained prior to commencement of
construction /installation/operation.
In granting this approval, the Division of Safety & Buildings reserves the right to require changes or additions,
should conditions arise making them necessary for code compliance. As per state stats 101.12(2), nothing in this
review shall relieve the designer of the responsibility for designing a safe building, structure, or component. The
Division does not take responsibility for the design or construction of the reviewed items.
