No. 901 - 0999 - 7216 -00000 Land Improvement — Marion Road Riverwalk Aft JHK IH OI TIE "T" TO: Honorable Mayor and members of the Common Council FROM: Allen Davis, Community Development Director DATE: October 20, 2010 SUBJECT: Approve Change Order #1, Werner Electric Supply for Pedestrian Light Poles & Pathway Bollards for Marion Riverwalk — West Leg ( +$32,941.16) BACKGROUND In July of this year, the City requested bids for light poles and bollards for the riverwalk corridor. Based on bids received, two suppliers are authorized to provide the Beacon brand lights and bollards specified by the City. On August 10, 2010 Council awarded Werner Electric Supply the contract as lowest bidder to supply light poles and bollards for the Riverside Park riverwalk section. At this time, lights and bollards need to be ordered for the west leg of the Marion Road Riverwalk. ANALYSIS The Department previously met with Parks Director Ray Mauer and City Electrician Dan Kussman regarding the style of light poles and bollards to use on the entire riverwalk corridor. Mr. Kussman researched several styles and manufacturers and it was agreed that for consistency and uniformity, the Beacon light poles and bollards would be the style used on each section of the riverwalk corridor. Based on the bids received in July for the Riverside Park riverwalk section, two suppliers bid on the Beacon brand specified by the city. Council is being asked to approve a change order to the current contract with Werner Electric for 8 light poles (at $2,463.08 each) and 11 bollards (at $1,203.32 each) for a total increase of $32,941.16. Installation of lights on the west leg of the Marion Road Riverwalk will fulfill the City's /RDA's requirements under the developer agreement with Oshkosh River Development. FISCAL IMPACT A funding scenario for the Marion Road Riverwalk improvements was approved by Council on September 15, 2010 which included dollars for lighting on the west leg. RECOMMENDATION The Department is requesting Council approval of Change Order #1 to increase the contract with Werner Electric Supply for light poles and bollards for the Marion Road Riverwalk — West Leg in the amount of $32,941.16. Approved, City Manager
