HomeMy WebLinkAboutBZA Mintues (variance) - 05/18/1994 MINUTES PAGE -2- MAY 18, 1994 BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS II: 2512 SHOREWOOD DRIVE - Eileen Rescheske, owner; Jim Driessen, applicant The owner /applicant are requesting a variance to construct an addition to an existing single family dwelling with a 15 ft. front yard setback, a 51/2 ft. side yard setback and a 5 ft. side yard setback; whereas Section 30 -15(B) Standards of the R -1 Single Family Residence District of the City of Oshkosh Zoning Ordinance requires a 25 ft. minimum front yard setback and 71/2 ft. minimum side yard setback per side. Jim Driessen gave a brief history of the property in question and reiterated the variance request. Chairman Slover inquired what would happen to the old garage and inquired if there where any problems with the Zoning Ordinance as to keeping the existing garage. Mr. Driessen stated he thought the owners might re -side the garage to match the house, but he was not sure. Mr. Roskom stated the owners would not be exceeding the allowed square footage by keeping the existing garage. Mr. Dahl inquired how long the owners have had title to this property and Mr. Driessen stated the owners purchased the property in 1985/86. Both Mr. Dahl and Chairman Slover commented that at the time of development of this lake property, as with all lake front property during that era, houses were built on top of one another. Motion by Roehlig for approval of a variance to construct an addition to an existing single family dwelling with a 15 ft. front yard setback, a 5% ft. side yard setback, and a 5 ft. side yard setback. Seconded by Dahl. Motion carried 4 -0. As to the Findings of Fact, Mr. Roehlig stated there is definitely no adverse impact on the neighborhood. We are just making the best of a bad situation.
