HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter (illegal sign) - 01/20/1981 January 20, 1981
TO: TOM AHRENS
Assistant City Attorney
FROM: JAMES DALLMAN
Assistant Building Inspector
SUBJECT: ILLEGAL SIGN AT W. 20TH AVENUE, RICHARD L. CHRISTL, OWNER.
637
Reference is made to a ground sign erected in the R -1B Residential District
without a permit. The sign advertises Prudential. Insurance and violates the
following Sections of the City Ordinance:
30- 22(E)(1)(a): The sign violates the one square foot maximum size for a
sign in the residential district, and also contains more than the name and
address of the occupant.
30- 22(E)(2)(f): Gound signs are not permitted in the R -1B district.
30- 22(E)(2)(J): Mr. Christi, the owner, informed me on December 12, 1980
that he does not operate a business from this premises. Therefore the sign
is by definition an off premise sign and off premise signs are not permitted
in the R -1B district.
30- 22(D)(1)(a): Sign erected without a permit.
30- 22(D)(3)(c): Sign located to close to the south property line. The
setback requirement for ground signs is the same as for buildings.
Mr. Christi has been informed twice by letter of these violations (letters
attached). Also I talked to Mr. Christi on December 12, 1980 informing him of
the violations. At that time he told me he did not intend to comply.
I inspected this premises on January 19, 1981 and found that the sign was still
in place on that date. This matter is referred to you for appropriate action.
