Box 1130 Oshkosh, W 549 - -1 City of Oshkosh 0 OIHKOIH TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Jon Urben, General Services Director DATE: September 22, 2010 RE: Fire Department Station 16 Renovation BACKGROUND The Common Council approved $100,000 in the 2010 CIP Program for renovations to Fire House #16 on Washburn Avenue. The scope of this project includes upgrades and replacements of sleeping quarters, HVAC systems, electrical, carpet, vinyl tile and plumbing fixtures. ANALYSIS Working in conjunction with our architect from Dimension IV and Fire Department personnel, Purchasing reviewed and prepared bid specifications for this project. Bids were received on September 20, 2010 and the bid tab is attached. After reviewing the bids we have concluded the low bids meet the minimum bid specifications. If approved on September 28 we anticipate the work could be completed in approximately six weeks, or about the middle of November. FISCAL IMPACT The fiscal impact of these bids with alternates is $81,809. Funding for this project would be charged to account: 323 - 0230 - 7214 - 06016. These bids coupled with Dimension IV's architectural services estimate of $5,800 will result in a preliminary total project cost of $87,709. RECOMMENDATION Purchasing recommends the Common Council award the low bids of this renovation work as follows: General Contractor Work- Stodola Contracting Solutions ($25,284), Flooring Contractor- Floor Quest ($15,000), Ceiling Contractor- Acoustic Specialties ($9,990), Plumbing Contractor- Jim's Plumbing ($4,450), HVAC Contractor- Central Heating ($15,180), and Electrical Contractor- Faith Technologies ($11,905).
