The exposed footing subgrade soils were visually classified as red silty clay with varying amounts of gravel. The one exception being at sample location #3, which appeared to be a red silty clay fill with varying amounts of gravel and black silt. Five (5) locations were tested at the planned footing grade with a static cone penetrometer to verify the in -place soil strength of the exposed footing subgrade soils. In most areas, results of the strength tests indicated correlated penetration resistances of 2.0 tsf, which typically results in a net allowable soil bearing capacity that meets or exceeds the project soil bearing specification of 2,000 psf. However, fill was observed at the footing elevation in test location 3. It must be noted that exploratory borings were not performed, no testing or determination of soil types or strengths were documented or implied for supporting soils at any depth below footing grade. Only the soils at planned footing depth were tested. At the time of this site visit, observations indicated the footing excavations to be free of water, loose soil, and frost. The contractor was notified of the test results and was reminded that the exposed footing subgrade soils must be protected from water, frost and construction activity. If the footing subgrade soils become softened, frozen, or disturbed, they must be removed or re- compacted prior to foundation construction. Hi, my name is Lynette Radtke and I live at 1817 Oshkosh Avenue. I have noticed that there is an apartment building going up adjacent to my property and I have a few questions I hope you might be able to answer. First, do neighboring properties get a notification when apartments are going up next to their property? Second, I looked at the plans and I have to admit I'm not real good at reading them. Is there going to be any fence, trees, bushes in between that property and mine. I couldn't really tell from the print. Also, do they have to put in certain things between business properties and residential? Do they also have to maintain these?
