Rohloff, City Manager DATE: June 16, 2010 RE: Agreement for Engineering Services for 2010 Sanitary Sewer Manhole Repair Program/ McMahon, Engineers /Architects Engineering staff requested a proposal from McMahon Engineers /Architects of Neenah, WI, to prepare plans and specifications and perform construction observation for a sanitary sewer manhole repair project. The purpose of the project is to reduce the amount of clear water entering the Sanitary Sewer System. The proposed repair locations are those identified in last year's study. The proposal was requested from McMahon due to their performing the initial Manhole Observation Report last year. Engineering staff have reviewed the proposal and costs. The services to be provided are preparation of detailed plans and specifications, to allow the construction work to be bid, and onsite construction inspection of the construction. The proposed fee is not to exceed $52,800. Funds for these services are budgeted in the Sanitary Sewer section of the CIP. Section 12- 10(D)(5) of the Municipal Code provides that professional services of a specialized nature, including engineering services, may be approved by the City Manager without the use of formal, sealed quotes. In accordance with 12 -10(E) of the Code, I am hereby submitting this report regarding this contract award. Please advise me if you have any questions concerning this contract award. Rohloff, City Manager RE: Award of Engineering Services Agreement — Assessment of Municipal Parking Lots / Jewell Associates Engineers, Inc. The 2010 Capital Improvement Program included funding for an assessment of parking lots in the City. The purpose of this assessment is to assist in prioritizing and programming future improvements to these parking areas. After soliciting proposals through a request for proposals (RFP) process, we selected Jewell Associates Engineers, Inc., based in Wisconsin Rapids, to do this work. Jewell will be responsible for on -site investigations of nearly 50 parking areas in the City with respect to pavement condition and deterioration, and will make recommendations for a 10 -year parking lot maintenance and construction program. Jewell was selected to perform this work based on their credentials and their responsiveness to our request for proposals. The project fee is not to exceed $39,205.
