HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1 CITY OF OSHKOSH LANDMARKS COMMISSION MINUTES COMMISSION MEETING December 10, 2003 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Harold Buchholz, Carol Esslinger, Laurel Forsythe, Orv Hando, Jim Grine, Shirley Mattox, Dick Rueckl, Jane Westphal. AD HOC MEMBERS PRESENT: Greg Krueger, Paine Art Center. EXCUSED: STAFF: Susan Kepplinger CALL TO ORDER Chair Harold Buchholz called the meeting to order and a quorum was declared present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Jane Westphal moved approval of the minutes for the November meeting. Carol Esslinger seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. FRIENDS OF RIVERSIDE CEMETERY Shirley Mattox had no report on this. WEBSTER BLOCK RESTORATION PROJECT Staff reported that the residential tenants moved in the previous Saturday. Many Commissioners had been at the open house and were favorably impressed with the project. MAIN STREET BROCHURE Jim Grine reported that he is making progress. ORDINANCE REVISION There was general discussion regarding this. Commissioners agreed that the issue would be considered as part of the 2004 goal setting process. HISTORIC STREET SIGNAGE 2 Staff will be working with the Transportation Department to locate a vendor. CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT (CLG) STATUS Harold Buchholz reported the he had done some investigation into gaining Certified Local Government status with the State Historical Society. The status would qualify the city for funding for preservation related projects. It appears that the city would currently be able to meet the requirements due to the type of preservation ordinance that is currently in place. OTHER BUSINESS Staff reported that the State Trust was soliciting nominations for the 2004 Most Endangered Historic Property list. Nominations are due at the end of January. There was discussion regarding submitting a nomination and regarding potential candidates. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Carol Esslinger moved the meeting be adjourned.
