HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes CITY OF OSHKOSH LANDMARKS COMMISSION MINUTES MAY 11, 2005 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Harold Buchholz, Bev Harrington, Shirley Mattox, Dick Rueckl, Arlene Schmuhl AD HOC MEMBERS PRESENT: None EXCUSED: Todd Clark STAFF: Excused CALL TO ORDER Chair Harold Buchholz called the meeting to order and a quorum declared present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Dick Rueckl moved approval of the minutes of the March 9 meeting. Shirley Mattox seconded the motion which passed unanimously. HISTORIC SURVEY UPDATE Staff was unavailable to report on this item. PRESERVATION MONTH ACTIVITY UPDATE The Taliesin photo exhibit at the Library during Saturday’s Gallery Walk was a success, according to Commissioners involved. It was estimated that between 500 and 600 people attended. The library, Historical Society and OAWAC will be sent thanks for their involvement. Acanthus Awards were presented at the May 10 Common Council meeting. Commissioners suggested that future Acanthus Award presentations include photographs that can be displayed for broadcast during the presentation. It was also suggested that the Commission undertake more publicity regarding the Awards. Commissioners also asked for a revised complete list of all Acanthus Award winners. Bev Harrington reported that she had written an article on Radford homes which has been forwarded to the Northwestern, who responded with a request for information on any Radford homes that exist in Oshkosh. Bev Harrington will be meeting with Jim Draeger of the State Historical Society who is very knowledgeable regarding kit and catalog homes to see if any can be identified in Oshkosh. ANNUAL REPORT Harold Buchholz reported that a draft will be ready for Commission review in June. PROGRESS ON 2005 GOALS District Reports Harold Buchholz asked that Commissioners be prepared to make a five minute report on any activities of interest in their districts. Riverside Chapel Todd Clark sent a written statement indicating that he had met with Terry Laib to discuss evaluation of the condition of the roof of Riverside Chapel, they are planning to develop a report and recommendations following inspection. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Bev Harrington moved the meeting be adjourned. Dick Rueckl seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
