CITY OF OSHKOSH LANDMARKS COMMISSION MINUTES JUNE 8, 2005 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Harold Buchholz, Bev Harrington, Shirley Mattox, Dick Rueckl, Arlene Schmuhl, Todd Clark. AD HOC MEMBERS
PRESENT: None EXCUSED: Carol Esslinger STAFF: Kristi Bales, Susan Kepplinger OTHERS PRESENT: Penelope Bartotto CALL TO ORDER Chair Harold Buchholz called the meeting to order and a quorum
declared present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Bev Harrington moved approval of the minutes of the May 11 meeting. Todd Clark seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Todd Clark moved approval
of the minutes of the April 13 minutes. Arlene Schmuhl seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. BASHFORD HOUSE STATUS UPDATE Bev Harrington reported that she, Harold Buchholz and
Shirley Mattox had been given a tour of the Bashford House by Terry Laib. She was surprised by the fact that the house appeared to be in good condition. The intention of the Friends
of the Bashford House, if they are successful in working out an agreement with the Davis Board, is to first complete cosmetic upgrades and then undertake more extensive work, with the
intention of eventually restoring the home to it appearance in 1875. It was reported that there had been discussion between the Friends organization and the Davis Board, but nothing
had been resolved. The Board has requested that the Friends present a financial plan to the Board at the June 14 meeting. The building is still scheduled for demolition June 15. PRESERVATION
MONTH ACTIVITY UPDATE In addition to the activities reported in the May minutes Arlene Schmuhl reported on the dinner at the Brooklyn Fire Station sponsored by the Winnebago County Historical
and Archeological Society in May. 49 out of 50 seats were sold.
Shirley Mattox suggested that, based on the success of the Wright photo exhibit during the May Art Walk, the Commission consider undertaking future preservation related activities in
conjunction with the monthly Art Walk. Following discussion, Shirley Mattox, Arlene Schmuhl and Harold Buchholz agreed to work on this. PROGRESS ON 2005 GOALS District Reports This item
will be tabled until the July or August meeting. Riverside Chapel Todd Clark reported that he had met with Terry Laib at the Chapel to make an initial assessment of the condition of
the building. He outlined the results of this investigation and share photos with the Commission illustrating the issues that had been identified. Todd was able to make copies of the
original plans for the structure. Staff was asked to arrange a meeting between the Parks Director and City Forester, and Todd Clark to discuss the condition of the property and to begin
to develop a systematic, prioritized approach to addressing problems with the condition of the Chapel. Chapel. Other Projects. There were no reports on the following projects; Assistance
to Owners of Endangered Historic Properties; Field Trip to Historic Property or Site; Architectural Exhibit at either Museum; Historic Church Tour. ANNUAL REPORT Harold Buchholz will
have a draft for review at the July meeting. ELECTION OF OFFICERS Following discussion, the floor was open for nominations for Chair. Arlene Schmuhl nominated Harold Buchholz and Dick
Rueckl seconded the motion. Nominations were closed and the Commission voted for Harold Buchholz unanimously. The floor was then open for nominations for Vice Chair. Shirley Mattox nominated
Bev Harrington and Todd Clark seconded the motion. Nominations were closed and the Commission unanimously voted Bev Harrington Vice Chair. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business,
