HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes CITY OF OSHKOSH LANDMARKS COMMISSION MINUTES SEPTEMBER 14, 2005 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Harold Buchholz, Carol Esslinger, Shirley Mattox, Dick Rueckl, Arlene Schmuhl. AD HOC MEMBERS PRESENT: None EXCUSED: Bev Harrington, Todd Clark. STAFF: Susan Kepplinger CALL TO ORDER Chair Harold Buchholz called the meeting to order and a quorum was declared present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Dick Rueckl moved approval of the August minutes. Carol Esslinger seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. FINALIZE ANNUAL REPORT Following a brief discussion, Arlene Schmuhl moved approval of the final draft of the annual report submitted by Harold Buchholz. Dick Rueckl seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. RIVERSIDE CEMETERY CHAPEL ROOF UPDATE As Todd Clark was unable to attend, staff read an email message from him regarding the proposed project. Bill Sturm has been given bids for the various aspects of the project and he will be reporting on the need for the project and the bids to the Parks Advisory Committee in an upcoming session. The Committee will be asked to approve inclusion of this work in the 2006 budget. BASHFORD HOUSE UPDATE No information was available to report. OCTOBER GALLERY WALK Arlene Schmuhl and Shirley Mattox discussed arrangements that had been made and remaining work to be done. The event, a display of Dan Radig’s paintings of historic Oshkosh buildings along with historic and current photos of them, will be held under the dome at the Oshkosh Public Library during the October Gallery Walk. AREA REPORT There were no area reports. STATUS OF HISTORIC SURVEY UPDATE Staff reported that the majority of the field work has been completed and the contract had been amended to address additional eligible properties identified during the filed work phase of the project. The project time frame will also be extended to accommodate the additional work. The final product should be available in the spring. WASHINGTON AVENUE HISTORIC DISTRICT STREET SIGNS Staff reported that letters had been sent to all owner occupied properties in the district to gauge interest in private fundraising for historic street signs. More will be known at the September meeting. FALL WAPC MEETING Staff reported that office staff had been asked to post the necessary notices in the event a quorum of Commission members attends this conference on October 21 and 22 in Appleton.
