CITY OF OSHKOSH LANDMARKS COMMISSION MINUTES OCTOBER 12, 2005 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Harold Buchholz. Todd Clark, Carol Esslinger, Bev Harrington, Shirley Mattox, Dick Rueckl. AD HOC
MEMBERS PRESENT: None EXCUSED: Arlene Schmuhl STAFF: Susan Kepplinger CALL TO ORDER Chair Harold Buchholz called the meeting to order and a quorum was declared present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Bev Harrington moved approval of the September minutes with the following corrections; the heading should read “September” and the gallery walk event featured paintings of historic commercial
buildings. Dick Rueckl seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. RIVERSIDE CEMETERY CHAPEL ROOF UPDATE Staff reported that the Parks Advisory Board had agreed to include the chapel
roof repairs in the capital improvement budget. The Common Council will act on that budget in November. OCTOBER GALLERY WALK Bev Harrington reported that between 175 and 200 people attended
the exhibit, which included 17 of Dan Radig’s paintings of historic Oshkosh commercial buildings and corresponding current photos and information. Attorney Walter Bush loaned 5 of the
17 paintings. Joan Mueller was extremely helpful in setting up the exhibit. Oshkosh Arts Club provided refreshments. BASHFORD HOUSE UPDATE The building is still standing. The Friends
group continues to work on fundraising. AREA REPORT Bev Harrington reported that nothing notable had happened in her area. Carol Esslinger discussed several historic homes in her area,
including two that are listed for sale. There was some discussion regarding what to do about the apparent general lack of understanding of historic properties on the part of realtors.
WASHINGTON AVENUE HISTORIC DISTRICT STREET SIGN UPDATE Staff reported contact with two residents to develop a strategy for raising funds for the signs. No other progress had been made.
FALL WAPC MEETING Shirley Mattox reported that she had nominated the Webster Block owners for recognition at this meeting and as a result, they would be receiving a preservation award
at the meeting. ADJOURNMENT Todd Clark moved the meeting be adjourned. Dick Rueckl seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Respectfully Submitted, Susan Kepplinger Principal Planner
