HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes CITY OF OSHKOSH LANDMARKS COMMISSION MINUTES NOVEMBER 14, 2007 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Paul Arnold, Harold Buchholz, Todd Clark, Bev Harrington, Shirley Mattox, Burk Tower AD HOC MEMBERS PRESENT: none EXCUSED: Carol Esslinger, Arlene Schmuhl STAFF: Susan Kepplinger OTHERS PRESENT: Trent Margrif, National Trust Midwest Office CALL TO ORDER Chair Harold Buchholz called the meeting to order and a quorum was declared present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Paul Arnold moved approval of the October meeting with the correction that Shirley Mattox is on the Riverside Cemetery subcommittee, not Bev Harrington. Bev Harrington seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. NATIONAL TRUST FIELD REPRESENTATIVE Staff introduced Trent Margrif, who has been the Director of the Midwest Field Office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation since November 1, 2007. Trent is working from Oshkosh and explained his job responsibilities and the assistance he could provide the Commission. NATIONAL REGISTER NOMINATION TRAINING Harold Buchholz reported that he, Bev Harrington, Shirley Mattox and Paul Arnold attended the training session and that they found it informative. RIVERSIDE CEMETERY SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT Todd Clark reported that the subcommittee and staff had met with Mary Tollard and Bill Sturm at the cemetery office to discuss the types of things the subcommittee hoped to accomplish for the cemetery and to learn more about the cemetery operation and what cemetery staff felt needed to be addressed. LOCAL LANDMARK Paul Arnold reported that he had not heard from the owner of the William Waters home on Fulton who previously had expressed interest in having that property Landmarked. Shirley Mattox reported that she had contacted the owner of the Gates House at 404 W. New York who expressed an interest in having the property Landmarked. She will follow up on this. E NEWSLETTER There was no report on this item. CLG CERTIFICATION STATUS Staff reported that the National Park Service had awarded the City Certified Local Government status. CLG GRANT APPLICATION Staff reported that the application for CLG grant funds had been mailed today. Funds were requested to nominate two Districts to the National Register. PLANNING CALENDAR REVIEW Harold Buchholz directed staff to add 2008 Goal setting to the December agenda. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Shirley Mattox moved the meeting be adjourned.
