We have implemented improvements in working capital (taking our AP DPO from 28 day average to a 65 day average which freed up millions in cash) that is available to spend on other items and /or reduce our debt. I come from cities such as Greenwood, In that successfully implemented a city wide tax (several decades ago) to fight budget challenges so they could maintain essential services. We need to ask the tough questions and consider alternatives (i.e. privatization of waste removal, capital equipment buy /lease programs, etc). I have spoken to Peggy Steeno recently and we believe I would be a good fit for this committee. I served on the Plan Commission in 2004 and 2005, and am currently a member of the Redevelopment Authority. My background and expertise would be a better fit for the Finance Committee, however, as I have been a professor of accounting at UW Oshkosh and taught the course in Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting for several years. If asked to serve on the Long Range Finance Committee, I would resign from the RDA, as I would like to focus on one committee only.
