MEMORANDUM
TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council
FROM: Steven M. Gohde, Assistant Director of Public Works
DATE: May 19, 2010
RE: Amend Initial Resolution 10 -138 for Special Assessments for Paving, Sidewalk, Driveway
and Utilities/ Third Local Street Concrete Paving Program.
BACKGROUND
This resolution is to amend the streets and the edit types of improvements assessments can be levied for
on the third local street concrete paving project. Scott Avenue from Main Street to Division Street is
added to the list of streets. The second change is editing the improvements that can be assessed. The
assessable work will include concrete pavement, asphalt pavement, concrete curb and gutter, grading
and graveling, sidewalk repair, new sidewalk, concrete driveway approaches, sanitary main, sanitary
laterals (new and relay), storm sewer laterals, water main and water laterals (new).
ANALYSIS
The resolution allows City Staff to proceed with preparing assessments for the abutting properties. A
public hearing and final resolution need to be approved by the Council prior the assessments being levied
on the properties.
FISCAL IMPACT
Assessments allow the City to recover a portion of the costs associated with projects from benefiting
properties. Funding for the projects is included in the 2010 Capital Improvement Program in the Street,
Storm Sewer, Sanitary Sewer and Water Main sections.
RECOMMENDATIONS
recommend approval of this resolution to amend the initial resolution.
Respectfully Submitted Approved:
