Article Suggestions for Spring Newsletter Allyn enclosed a list of the topics that are going to be in the spring newsletter in the packets sent out. Allyn asked if anyone had any other ideas for newsletter articles. A few members had some ideas which included, Emergency Lighting, Code Changes and links to Safety & Buildings website, State Plumbing forfeiture rules, Rules for tracer wire and marker balls. Allyn also reminded the members that anyone interested in getting the Newsletter by e-mail can receive it by going to our Web Site subscription service and listing their e-mail address. Permit Fee Increases Allyn asked for input and insight on potential fee increases. He explained the present fee structure has been in place since July, 2006 and his intentions would be to propose adjustments for a January 1, 2009 implementation date. Various comments, suggestions and ideas were brought forth. Some liked the concept of using square footage fees while others like the simplicity of the present fee structure. One suggestion involved eliminating the fee for replacement plumbing fixtures. Allyn reminded the committee that getting rid of fees in one area would likely result in increases in other areas. Allyn advised he will take into consideration all input when developing a proposal which is intended to be ready for the Committee to comment on in the July meeting. Review Miscellaneous Policy / Procedure Drafts – No time for discussion. Discuss/review issues/concerns committee members are aware of A few committee members voiced their opinions about the contractors not getting the proper permits for doing work. Allyn ensured the office was making all efforts to gain compliance (send out notices) when we see work being done without permits. The committee members suggested contacting the Northwestern about running articles on permit requirements and the purpose of the various rules and regulations. They also had an idea of putting something in the annual calendar put out by the City of Oshkosh. Allyn said he will look into these suggestions. Suggestions for future meetings – No time for discussion. Meeting adjourned at 3:45 PM. Respectfully Submitted, Sandra Steinike
