HomeMy WebLinkAboutMeeting Summary City of Oshkosh Division of Inspection Services PO Box 1130 Oshkosh, WI 54903-1130 (920) 236-5050 (920) 236-5084 FAX Advisory Committee on Inspection Services Summary of October 1, 2008 Meeting Present: Allyn Dannhoff, Jason Geffers, Tom Karrels, Tony Cook (for Pete LeCompte), Bill Warren Jeff Rasmussen, Mike Mathy Absent: Keith Decker, Dan Shea Meeting commenced at 2:00 PM Review Minutes of August 13, 2008 The minutes were approved, no concerns or changes noted other than the correct spelling of Tony Cook’s last name. Fall Newsletter Allyn distributed the Fall Newsletter. Advised the members that information on flood related items was still on the web site. He asked them to e-mail him if they had any comments or suggestions for future articles. Division Handbook Policy-Procedure Additions th Allyn handed out the Additions to the Division Handbook at the August 13 meeting but had little time to discuss the added policies. Briefly touched on added policies and procedures. Made special mention about Projects being closed without Occupancy Permits being issued because contractors are failing to call for final inspections. Meeting Schedule for 2009 st Allyn suggested meeting dates of January 7, April 1, July 1 and October 7 for 2009. These dates are the 1 Wednesday of each quarter. He asked members to let him know a few weeks in advance if a meeting date was going to be a problem. Allyn also advised he will try to send a reminder of upcoming meetings a couple weeks prior to each of the scheduled meetings. Review upcoming Committee Member Appointments Allyn asked the members to keep in mind names of contractors they think would be willing to be a Member of the Advisory Committee, as there are 4 Members who’s term expires 12/31/08. Discuss/review issues/concerns committee members are aware of Allyn stated that there has been no decision yet on fee increases or when they will be implemented. He advised that any decision to go forth with fee increases would be based on first meeting with and getting direction from the City Manager. The plumbing fee schedule seems to be of some concern to the members. Some feel there should not be a permit requirement to replace plumbing fixtures. Allyn took this under advisement and advised that prior to eliminating this fee, an analysis of how much revenue is obtained from such permits must first be figured to determine how to replace these fees with other permit fees. Allyn handed out some information from regarding the State Electrical Licensing changes from the Division of Safety & Buildings. Members inquired about being able to submit short articles to the newspaper as a way to inform the public about various city codes. Suggestions for future meetings – Next meeting scheduled for January 7, 2009. Allyn asked members to e- mail him with topics for discussion at the next meeting.
