Absent:Tom Karrels, Cal Watters, John Hazelberg Meeting commenced at 2:03 PM. Review Minutes of August 8, 2007 meeting The minutes were approved, no concerns or changes noted. Council Workshop Presentation Allyn stated that the workshop went well and thanked the members for their input in the preliminary presentation. October Newsletter Concerns were brought to our attention that some contractors are not getting the newsletter via the e-mail and Web subscription service. Allyn stated he would again, talk to the IT department and hopefully correct the problem and make all efforts to get it back up and running. (Note: this was resolved shortly after the meeting.) Allyn stated that he would like to get a newsletter out in November, regarding the new State 1&2 Family Contractor license program to make sure everyone is on the same page. The intent is to educate our local contractor to avoid delays in permit issuance when the new program goes into effect on January 1, 2008. Dwelling Contractor Certification and Education – 01/01/2008 There were many questions and concerns noted on the new state license requirements that go into effect 01/01/08 and how it will affect the Inspection Services office and the building contractors. How will we know when a qualifier leaves a company? st When does the 12 hours of continuing education on into play (as of the 1 of the year or when the first permit is issued?) Can’t find the classes to obtain the 12 hours of continuing education. What differences will need to be made for the current Permit Package in the Inspection office? (3 fields will have to be added – Qualifier Name, Qualifier Number, and the Expiration Date) Discuss/Review Issues/Concerns Committee Members are aware of. We are looking for volunteers to serve on the committee to fill the vacancies created by two appointment expirations. Phil Baeten’s (remodeling contractor) and John Hazelberg’s (electrician) appointments both expire, December 2007. We will focus on finding candidates in the same categories. (A short article soliciting volunteers will be included in the November Newsletter.) The members were wondering the status of the state Building Code changes. When it is adopted, what are will the major code changes and when will it be available to purchase. Allyn advised state staff were hopeful of a January 1, 2008 implementation date. Allyn advised he will have further information in the next meeting. Allyn asked if anyone wanted had suggestions for change, modification of the meeting format. No concerns or suggestions were noted, so the meetings will continue to be organized in the same format. If you have any questions/concerns please feel free to contact Allyn Dannhoff at (920) 236-5045. Meeting adjourned at 2:52 pm.
