Dear Rene and Dave,
The purpose of this letter is to advise you that there is a serious water problem in the house.
Becky and I have talked to you about this numerous times and you came over one time to check out the
problem, but the water problem is getting worse by the day and must be fixed as soon as possible. I first
mentioned this problem to Dave outside around November 2, 2008. On November 17, 2008 I called
your home and spoke with an adult who I thought was your daughter about the problem again.
Yesterday, I mentioned the problem again to Rene who said she had just received my phone message
from November 17.
There is a water pipe in the wall that has been constantly leaking. As a result, water has leaked
into my closet destroying everything I had stored in the closet. The water has drenched the carpet in my
closet and bedroom destroying everything it has touched, including my bed. Water has been sitting so
long in these areas that mold is beginning to grow on the boxspring of my bed, the walls and probably
other places. There is obvious water damage to the walls of my closet and the hallway wall which is
badly discolored and soft in spots. There is an obvious and constant dripping sound in my bedroom as
the water continues to leak from a pipe and it is disturbing my sleep.
The water has leaked from the bedroom floor into the basement as well. Despite our efforts to
keep our belongings dry, much of what we had stored in the basement is ruined because of water
damage. There is standing water in the basement from the leak. A constant dripping sound can be
heard in the basement as well.
You came over to look at the water problem one time after 1 first advised you of the problem
when Becky was home. You also fixed our furnace, however, the furnace keeps going out.
Becky and I are very concerned about this water problem and the damage it is causing to your
home and to our personal property. We are also very concerned that this amount of moisture sitting in
the home for this long is not healthy or safe for us and the children.
Please call me as soon as possible so that we can arrange for you to fix the leak and make the
necessary repairs to the home as a result of the water damage. I look forward to working with you to
fix this problem.
Sincerely,
Linda Dearth
