Box 1130 Oshkosh, Wisconsin City of Oshkosh 0 OlHKOlH DATE: January 19, 2010 TO: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council FROM: Mark A Rohloff, City Manager RE: Grand Opera House Repair /Renovation Project Professional Services Agreements: T.R. Karrels & Associates, SC, Conrad Schmitt Studios, Inc., Laib Restoration, Inc. The Common Council approved funding for the Grand repair and renovations project at their August 25, 2009 meeting. Professional service agreements have been secured by the city as part of the allocated project budget to cover various scopes of specialized work. These services are as follows: • T.R. Karrels & Associates, SC to provide ongoing engineering/architectural services for an estimated cost of $38,000. Their work will include construction observation to ensure bid specification compliance and change order /pay request reviews. • Conrad Schmitt Studios, Inc. to perform documentation, design and fabrication services related to the four major artistic elements including canvas reproductions for the coves, the cherubs, Shakespeare and the GOH logo mural. Their proposal is an estimated $56,000. • Laib Restoration, Inc. for the first phase of the care, repair and restoration of the historic wood soffits. This work includes the numbering, removal and reinstallation of the historic surfaces for an estimated initial cost of $8,960. Additional phases of work for the soffits will be required as the project moves forward. Section 12 -10(D) (5) of the Municipal Code provides that professional services of a specialized nature may be approved by the City Manager without the use of formal sealed quotes. In accordance with 12 -101 of the Code, I am hereby submitting this report regarding these professional services. These services will be funded through the 2010 CIP program which was previously approved by the council in 2009. Please advise me if you have any questions concerning these agreements.
