INC. 11/21 /2002 • Brewer Heating • Doug Brewer •` ' . • RE: Large house ventilation caleideiions ., • • . . • • Doug, Please recall our phone conversation today (Thursday 11121/2002) regarding a large home in which you were involved in providing°.the required ventilation. 'Wisconsin Code COMM . 23.02(30x2) states that passive intake air ductaproviding air for intermittent exhaust fans shall be sized to provide at least 40% of the total air that would be exhausted with all intermittent exhaust ventilation in the dwdtling•opeerating simultaneously. • Table 23.07 (duct velocities) allows outdoor intake ducts to be sized to accommodate a minimum duct velocity of 500 feet per minute and a maximum velocity of 800 feet per minute. The specific house that you had described had this following exhaust potential: Five (5) 50 *fin bathroom fans = total 250 CFM One large kitchen hood fan = 600 CFM ' ' Total potential exhaust CFM = 850 CFM , . 850 total CFM x .4 (40%) = 370 CFM A 10" round fresh air intake could• accommodate 370 CFM at a velocity of approximately 700 feet per minute. Therefore, a 10" nee area intake should be permissible. Once inside the house, you could branch off of the 10" round; intake pipe with three 6" round pipes leading to the existing I-IVAC equipment ductwork.,,.: eh : d ", pipe could accommodate approximately 125 CFM. Therefore you could meet and exceed, the fresh air intake requirements for the home based nn exhaust rates that you had informed me. . Please call me with any further questions. ,,i' ` 44x04 tr °AV `r Sincerely yours, ,,....+te..o! "''•,,' .,/ Ap ^tZVEGSR A Ron Krueg - n_ien I 1 .
