HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutesMINUTES SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY BOARD December 7, 2009 Board Members Present: Steve Barney, Justin Mitchell, Jan Scalpone, Andrew Sabai, Margy Davey, Tony Palmeri, Ron Hardy, Todd Sohr Excused: Bob Breest Staff: Darryn Burich CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 4:00 by Chair Ron Hardy. APPROVE MINUTES Steve Barney asked to eliminate the word "proposed" in a sentence under the Greenhouse Gas Working Group Update section. Motion by Margy Davey and second by Jan Scalpone to approve the minutes as amended. Motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENT John Knox, 219A W. 10 Avenue appeared and commented on the climate change conference, the EPA's ruling on the public health hazard of greenhouse gases, and a candlelight vigil being held on December 8th WATER WORKING GROUP UPDATE Justin Mitchell went over the proposed brochure the group created on water conservation that will be forwarded to city staff for review once final edits are completed. He stated that the recommendations were based on research driven data and best practices not on individual opinions in the group. There was discussion about how best to get the brochure into the hands of public and potential places for it to be located at city facilities. GHG WORKING GROUP UPDATE Ron Hardy stated that the City had a slight setback with the intern and getting started on the community wide inventory that will be addressed in the upcoming months. He stated that the municipal inventory is being completed and that community wide will get underway in January. Mr. Hardy stated that they are also working on a couple of draft resolutions regarding energy and automated benchmarking as well as energy efficient building codes that they will discuss with the City Manager. ADJOURN There being no further business, Margy Davey moved and Justin Mitchell seconded that the meeting be adjourned to be followed by a 2010 goal setting session. Motion carried unanimously.
